Virtual Public Art Project

Artist: Damien Kamholtz
PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Virtual Public Art Project (VPAP) provides a point-in-time snapshot of the existing public art that exists in the Toowoomba Region.

From murals and mosaics to sculpture and memorials, VPAP demonstrates an ongoing story of public art being used to:

  • Enhance streetscapes and community spaces
  • Tell community stories
  • Provide points of reflection after events such as the 2011 floods
  • Celebrate local and national Indigenous culture
  • Compliment government-led placemaking activities

Public art can be temporal in nature so some of the public artwork featured – particularly the murals – may have been ‘decommissioned’ since the date of publication.
