ACT Projects and Initiatives
Arts Council Toowoomba is a very active organisation, working hard to showcase the creativity in our region. Since our beginnings in early 2006, we have designed and delivered projects and opportunities for artists. Our projects often include competitions aimed at helping to develop interest and participation in the Arts throughout our Region.
Our most recent project is the Inaugural Memebers Exhibition “What is Blue to you?”. This well supported exhibition at the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery has been widely acclaimed. Twenty five artists in varing fields worked specifically to the theme, creating new and exciting work.
Entry to ACT events and activities is open to all ACT members unless they are apart of a judging/selection panel. An ACT member on a judging/selection panel cannot enter that particular event, activity or competition, so as to avoid any conflict of interest.
2006 was the inaugural year of The Great Toowoomba Postcard Project – a project that showcases local artists’ work in a limited edition pack of 6 postcards. These are being snapped up by tourists, art lovers and businesses for corporate gifts. The next Postcard even will be held in 2010.

Our Postcard project has been an annual event. Watch out for application forms for the 2010 project in coffee shops, galleries and art outlets around about May 2009.
In 2007, in addition to the Postcard project, we have added AVANT GARDEN to our calendar of annual projects.
