I loved the individual and diverse responses to the theme – What is Blue to You? A dynamic exhibition. Like Jennifer(above) I appreciated the energy and joy of the collective – and of the opening – which was a joyous and celebratory affair.

I loved Jennifer’s baskets – the idea that you can write your blues onto paper and let them go (by placing them into one of her baskets and then walking away) – was very positive and wonderful.

As soon as I saw Helen Hancock’s sculpture I remembered Floods January 2011 and the powerful forces and devastation of the flowing water.
Being passionate about reconciliation, I was moved when I picked up Victoria Cooper and Doug Spowart’s Australian cyanotype image showing how Australia’s banquet changed.
The most powerful emotion I felt was pleasure generated by the gathering of so many talented artists together expressing their individuality and creativity. The joy and energy of sharing with like minded people gives me a feeling of belonging to a larger group and make the world a more thoughful, beautiful place.

Being a practical person, I think of blue as the possiblity of dyebaths. But I was moved by so many of the entries in “What is Blue to You?”. Maryika Welter especially had the power to evoke a mood and sadness of bereavement.
